What was it like growing up in North Wales?
It was great, I was lucky enough to grow up in a beautiful part of the world, although things can get tough in a small town sometimes
What influenced you to get into music?
My biggest influence has to be Woodstock. I know that might sound like a cliche these days, but I remember watching it as a young boy and also my late brother was a huge fan, and I wrote my first song with him before he was taken from us
Through the years, were you in many different bands?
My First band is the one that has lasted all these years on and off called Redhill. The three of us were all close school friends and we still get together occasionally, which is great fun!
Do you have many fans in the U.S.?
I was picked up by an American band to do some demo session work recently. Although it didn`t pan out, in the end it was a great experience. They were based all over from Sweden to Austin, Texas.
Where do you generally record?
I generally record in my home studio, which actually is just my front room. No special acoustic treatment, just one track at a time kind of thing. I have recorded in professional studios, such as the Windings in North Wales, where I met the Producer Kim Fowley, when we were first starting out as a band and other professional studios in and around North Wales.
Do you work with different producers?
We were under a production agreement back in the nineties, with a local producer, at The Windings studio. But these days I just work alone.
What is your songwriting process?
Happy accidents, always searching for that one chord, and or chord sequence. I generally try to experiment with alternate tunings like DADEAD DADGAD, and my version of Open G, once I find something I generally go with my gut as to what I sing about, which could be anything from love ballads, to protest songs, and anything in between.
Do you perform live often?
I have recently had to take a few years out due to illness, and now I`m on the mend. I`m re-learning my live set, and trying to get back into performing live again.
Tell us about your latest project.
My Latest project is the album 'Still got the Blues,' which I will hopefully be releasing officially in a few months. I had the privilege of having contributions, with many of my music friends on it, and I hope it will be a success!
What can we expect from you in 2017?
My Album Release, and hopefully some live playing again! I really want to get back into writing again as well, but I have a few hurdles to overcome first.
